Oliech completes move to Ajaccio

By Omondi Onyatta
Harambee Stars skipper Dennis Oliech has completed his move to Ligue 1 side AC Ajaccio. The immediate former Auxerre marksman was unveiled by the club yesterday.
Speaking after his unveiling, Oliech expressed his gratitude to the club for signing him. “Am very grateful to the club for giving me an opportunity to showcase my technical and physical abilities,” the 27-year old said.
On his part, Ajaccio President Leo Luciani showered praises on the Kenyan labeling him as a fast and powerful striker. “We hope that his vast experience in the French league will be helpful to us,” Luciani stated.
Oliech, who started his career at Mathare United, has been a pivotal cog in Auxerre. So far, he has scored two goals for the Ligue 2 side while contributing seven assists. Despite being the club’s top scorer last season, Auxerre was still relegated after failing to improve on their third place finish of the previous season.
At Ajaccio, Oliech will be expected to inspire the team to improve on its current erratic form. The club lies in the 16th position, just two places above the relegation zone. The striker, who is the second Kenyan to feature in the UEFA Champions League, has also had stints with Al-Arabi of Qatar and Nantes of France.
