The electoral body has said it conducted credible elections a day to the swearing in ceremony of president elect Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Independent electoral and Boundaries Commission said it keenly looked into the results before declaring Mr Kenyatta the president elect.
“We met as a commission and looked at the results before we declared it. We own it as a commission. We could be wrong. May be there were errors but that is why we have dispute resolution mechanism,” said IEBC boss Mr Isaack Hassan (pictured).
Over 12 million Kenyans went to the polls on march 4 2013 to vote for their president, governor, senator, members of parliament, country representatives and women representatives.
Mr Hassan said that it was wrong for Kenyans to accuse the commission and the judiciary.
“Give us time to do our work. It is not fair to say Kenya could turn into Somalia or Zimbabwe. What I am seeing here is a lot of raw anger and emotions. You don’t want to give IEBC benefit of doubt. We could be right and you are all wrong,” stressed the chairman.
Preparations are in order for the inauguration of Uhuru Kenyatta as president tomorrow at Kasarani Sports Center.
