The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has promised to appoint a new coach for Harambee Stars before their World Cup qualifier match against Nigeria in March.
FKF chairperson Sam Nyamweya (pictured) revealed that the search for the new tactician was at an advanced stage.
“Let all Kenyans be assured that the national team will have a new coach before we play Nigeria in March. This is matter of great interest and we are keen on finding the right tactician,” Nyamweya said.
Rumours have circulated that former Burundi tactician Adel Amrouche was the frontrunner to clinch the job. However, Nyamweya was non-committal when questioned about the validity of these rumours. “I am not in a position to reveal much right now since we are still finalizing all the details. We have a database full of CVs of coaches who applied for the post when it was advertised last year,” Nyamweya revealed.
Former Tusker and Rangers FC coach James Nandwa has been handling the team in an interim capacity. He was appointed to the post after Frenchman Henri Michel resigned due to financial disputes with FKF.
