UoN is a religious university?

By Caleb Mutua
I have come to love UoN because of a number of reasons.
UoN is a ‘cool’ place to be and we all take pride of the fact that we are associated with this institution. All “Merchants of Cool” flock this place selling their products.
It is also strategically placed in the capital city. However, one thing I respect UoN for is that it is religious and it accommodates all religions.
Catholic students of UoN marked the 30th Anniversary of the St. Paul’s Chaplaincy at St. Paul’s Catholic University in the recent past.
At dusk, I see a group of Muslim students conduct maqrib (evening prayers) on the beautiful lawns and we all respect that.
I think that is one thing that has put us together as an institution. God bless The University of Nairobi.
However, I am a bit worried with the path that The Church is taking. Where exactly is the church headed? Is Church Swag in tandem with biblical teachings?
You should attend prayer sessions in Nairobi churches and witnesse what  the modern youth calls praising almighty God. Their hairstyles and clothes, I daresay, look demonic.
As much as we want university and college going students in church, somebody at some point is going to pull the trigger on this thing; tell the youth that God is not pleased with Church Swag and they should change to something more Christian and presentable.
While the rest of the country is busy fostering new changes in major developmental institutions, I pray for reforms in The Church.
