Ingwe prey on Gor tactician

By Omondi Onyatta
Tusker Premier League (TPL) side AFC Leopards is reportedly monitoring the contract standoff between Gor Mahia and their current tactician Zdravko Logarusic with a view to approaching the latter for his services.
The team, which finished third this season, is currently looking for a replacement for Jan Koops, who was fired last week after the club ended the season trophy-less.
Logarusic was the brain behind K’Ogalo’s meteoric rise from the relegation zone to claim the top eight and FKF Cup trophies this year. If these reports turn out to be true, then this would be one of the biggest coups made by Ingwe on their perennial archrivals.
Indeed, the Croatia-born tactician did not rule out ever managing AFC when asked to clarify the rumours. “I have not heard from AFC Leopards but I can never rule anything out,” Logarusic said.
Such a statement would predictably leave a sour taste in the mouths of the K’Ogalo faithful who have adorned the Croat with cult status. The management of the club has insisted that Logarusic is still at the club and is currently on holiday.
However, Gor Mahia secretary general George Bwana has not ruled out the possibility of scouting for another coach.
“We have a large database of coaches who wanted to take the reins of the team early this year. We could be looking at some of them if the coach fails to come back,” Bwana said.
Cases of players and coaches shuffling between the two bitter rivals are nothing new.  Last season, Erick Masika earned the wrath of K’Ogalo fans when he moved to AFC Leopards.
Other players to have recently moved in the opposite direction include Itubu Imbem and Demonde Selenga who left the felines to join the Green Army.
